Dan Fowler founded The Lock Shop in 1985 after being an apprentice for two years in Bloomington. We strive to keep up with the ever changing technology. The automotive industry alone has changed so much since we opened our doors that some of our competitors don't even want to do auto work anymore. For that reason, and the fact that a lot of our clients are automotive based, we've tooled up to continue making keys for cars, trucks and motorcycles.

Our shop was originally located next to our buddy Pete's in Morton until 1992, when we moved to Peoria. We kept our Morton telephone number for our customers there. We've also kept our pricing for our Morton customers as though we were still there. Here at The Lock Shop we strive to keep up with the ever changing technology.
Do you make keys?. You wouldn't think, after seeing a wall full of key blanks, that people would ask such a silly question. But they do. The answer, of course, is YES. We can make keys for just about anything! And rather than wasting time and money running all over town, come see us. What if I lost my keys or they were stolen?.

My situation was my remote to my GMC envoy fell off my key ring I found it outside my door this morning and it was cracked opened with water inside so I couldn't use it to shutoff my alarm system and I couldn't use my key because it didn't unlock the door So I called the Lock shop and explained the situation and a locksmith was in route in a matter of seconds He unlocked my truck I was glad I called yeah 5 stars for excellent customer service Thank you Lock Shop. Number 1 if you ever in a locked out situation.

I spoke to Dan about having a key made. When I asked how soon I could get the key, he replied, "For the price I quoted you, it would be Monday." I said that would be fine. When I hadn't heard anything by 4:30 Monday afternoon, I called. Dan asked, "Did we set up a time?" I told him he had said I would have the key on Monday. He then asked if the first thing Tuesday morning would be OK.
I agreed and was told someone would be out between 9:00 and 9:30 am. At approximately 11:30, I called again. Dan told me the guy who was coming got held up at another job and would be here shortly. So. apparently my job WASN'T "first thing in the morning." The guy who came out was terrific, but I'd look elsewhere if you value your time. Oh, when I asked Dan for a discount for waiting for the key, he generously (that's sarcasm) took $10 off the bill. The guy who made the key gave me an additional $5 off, which I appreciated. As an employee I'm sure there's only so much he can do.

I am so impressed with the quality of service that The Lock shop offers! I ran into a problem with my car's ignition last week. I contacted the dealership and made an appointment but was unable to get my car to the shop because it wouldn't start. After some googling I stumbled upon The Lock Shop. My husband called and told them what our problem was and they suggested bringing in my keys to see if they were the cause of my problem.
After arriving I was given the best customer service I have ever experienced. Not only did they work meticulously on my problem, but Dan also drove to my house twice to try the key in my car. After deciding that the culprit was not the key, but the ignition switch he gave me a quote to repair the switch and handed me the keys with no charge. Later when I brought the switch in they had it fixed within 24 hours and charged a fraction of what I would have paid at the dealership. They also gave great recommendations on how to save money on replacing my broken key fob. Thank you to Dan and the other fellas at The Lock Shop!

I had a very positive experience with The Lock Shop. I could not find my car keys. Spent the entire morning searching to no avail so decided they had to be in the car although I could not see them. I had purchased the car used a few years back and had a duplicate key made at the hardware store. It worked in the ignition, but I unfortunately did not try it in the door lock at that time.
It would not unlock the door. I live a ways from Peoria, but the Lock Shop made it to my driveway very promptly after calling them. The technician got the door open and there were the keys on the floor between the seat and the door. They had fallen out of my purse because I had not zipped it. I had told the gentlemen about the replacement key not working in the door, and he was so accommodating he made me a key right then that works in my car door. I truly appreciated how helpful he was.

Dan is a great guy. I definitely recommend him. I called asking if he could re-key my house the same day. He squeezed me into his schedule only to find my locks were self reset. He told me what I needed to do to reset the locks and did not charge me for the house call. Great to work with such an honest guy.

I called in at around 8:30 and got Caleb on the phone. He was extremely professional and polite and gave me a time frame of 20 minutes. At around 22 minutes after our call he was there and had my door open in just a few minutes. I'd recommend the lock shop to anyone who makes the same mistake I did of locking their keys in their work van. Totally worth the $85 I spent!
